Espoo is a lively economic and innovation centre - the Finnish Capital of Innovation. It is Finland’s second-largest city and grows at a rapid pace. Studies show that Espoo offers companies the best conditions for growth (in Finnish). There are plenty of highly educated workers available in the area, as more than 52% of over 25-year-olds have a university degree.
Espoo offers businesses an excellent location in the capital region with excellent connections to Europe, Asia and Russia.
Local nature is highly valued in Espoo. With 58 kilometres of shoreline and the Waterfront Walkway stretching over 40 kilometres, there are abundant opportunities for relaxation and recreational activities by the sea. In the summertime, boats carry passengers to Espoo’s islands. Nuuksio National Park invites both locals and visitors to enjoy the beauty of the diverse natural environment.
Espoo of experiences and innovations
The Growth and Innovation Ecosystem of Espoo is an ecosystem of startups, scaleups, growth companies and large international corporations, R&D centres and Aalto University. The ecosystem is the largest innovation hub in Northern Europe and was selected as the world’s most intelligent community in the Intelligent Community Awards 2018.
Along with Aalto University, major organisations such as VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Nokia, Kone, Neste and Fortum have made the ecosystem their home. Supercell and Rovio were born here and hundreds of startups are founded here every year.
The Growth and Innovation Ecosystem of Espoo was built together by the players in the community – and collaboration remains the foundation of our success now and in the future.
