Supporting your company in internationalisation
Chambers of commerce are globally valued business organisations. There are over 12,000 chambers of commerce in the world, each one an expert on its local business environment. The most important international chambers of commerce are the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) as well as its sub-organisations, the World Chambers Network (WCN), the World Chambers Federation (WCF), ICC Finland and Eurochambres.
Enterprise Europe Network
In addition to the network of chambers of commerce, the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce is part of the Enterprise Europe Network which is partially funded by the European Commission. We work closely with chambers of commerce in other countries. We organise internationalisation events that are free of charge and open to everyone. We also advise companies on EU funding, assist with finding international subcontractors or other partners and provide information on issues related to regulations and authorities in international business.
Internationalisation advice through the Enterprise Europe Network
EU funding advice: We disseminate information on funding opportunities and funding programmes of the EU. With timely communication we seek to activate companies and other organisations to harness the opportunities offered by EU programmes.
General information on countries and markets: We can find out the contact information of organisations in different countries. We also provide basic information on how to establish a company in a foreign country.
Problems with the internal market: We provide the European Commission with information on problems faced by companies when conducting business in the internal market. The network offers companies confidential advice on concrete problems and reports the problems to the Commission without naming the companies that have encountered difficulties. The purpose is to simplify and improve the internal market legislation. The aim is to ensure that the practical experiences of companies conducting business in the internal market will be taken into account better in future decision-making.
Legal advice: We provide general legal counselling on, for example, the impact and implementation of EU regulations, national legislation in different countries, international trade agreements and disputes, transport terms and conditions, taxation and public procurement.
The global FinnCham network brings together 35 trade associations, chambers of commerce and guilds in different parts of the world to promote the internationalisation and export efforts of Finnish companies.
Documents for foreign trade
Chambers of commerce issue the European Union’s general certificate of origin, ATA Carnet customs documents, force majeure certificates as well as other special certificates. The most common foreign trade documents verified by chambers of commerce include invoices, packing lists, price lists and various certificates.
Information packages for foreign trade
The information packages provided by the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce support your company in practical matters related to foreign trade. The packages have been created based on the needs that people dealing with foreign trade have expressed to the chamber of commerce.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) sells model contracts (in Finnish) that offer contractual partners from different countries a fair starting point and a quick way to conclude contracts. ICC’s model contracts are used all over the world.
Training and events
Every year we organise open internationalisation training events. The member companies of the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce can take part at a special member price. We also offer internationalisation events free of charge in collaboration with other organisations.
