From the beginning of 2019, Espoo will produce the social and crisis emergency services for all municipalities in Western Uusimaa. The name of Espoo Social and Crisis Emergency Services will also change into Western Uusimaa Social and Crisis Emergency Services.
The duties of Social and Crisis Emergency Services include situations that require immediate measures by social welfare authorities, for example:
- concern over a child or the family
- concern over the welfare or coping of an adult or senior citizen at home
- a sudden traumatic crisis, an accident or some other shocking event, such as a death in the family, serious illness in the family, violence or fire
In Espoo the service level will stay the same and the same service level will be extended through Western Uusimaa. In Kauniainen and Kirkkonummi where Espoo already is the service provider the service will expand. In other municipalities of Western Uusimaa (Hanko, Raseborg, Siuntio, Ingå, Lohja, Karkkila and Vihti), the need for social and crisis emergency services can be met better than previously, thanks to increased resources.
The staff of Western Uusimaa Social and Crisis Emergency Services will include the current personnel of Espoo Social and Crisis Emergency Services and the social and crisis emergency services of the municipalities of Western Uusimaa, as well as five new employees.
